Our garden

Our garden is a child-friendly and fully enclosed play area

I live with my husband Paul and our daughter who is ten and son who is eight in a four bedroom detached house in Cox Green, Maidenhead. I have lived in Maidenhead since 1993 and have a wealth of knowledge about activities and provision for children in this area.

Our home has a fully enclosed and child friendly rear garden, with play equipment and a trampoline in the summer. I take sun protection very seriously, therefore a large gazebo is erected adjacent to the patio doors during the summer so that meals can be taken outside in the fresh air whenever possible, and so that activities such as painting, gluing and sticking and drawing can also be done outside whenever the weather permits.

There is also a park - Ockwells Park - about ten minutes walk away with a large play area and fields for the children to play in, as well as giving the opportunity to spend summer days there, either playing in the park or looking at nature and enjoying a picnic lunch or tea.

Inside our home there is a playroom with plenty of toys for children of all ages. I also have many resources for the children including arts and crafts, reading and many board games. The kitchen also has a table and chairs, allowing extra space for children to enjoy cooking and baking. We have a downstairs cloakroom with a toilet and wash hand basin. For older children I have a computer with internet access which is restricted and supervised. The house is completely non-smoking and neither myself nor my husband smoke.

I have a spare bedroom where there is a bed and cot, which allows children and babies the opportunity to rest and sleep in a quiet atmosphere. I have a baby monitor, and I carry out observations on sleeping babies and children every ten minutes, which are recorded and available for parents.

In order for older children to relax, I have a designated area in my living room with comfy sofas, books and games or a small amount of television or DVD time in order to recharge after a hectic day at school.
